The collection has works belonging to the Salomon R. Guggeheim Foundation that houses important collections belonging to great American and European masters of the Vanguardist art. Works of art that are examples of the Pop Art, Minimalism, Arte Povera, Conceptual art, Abstract Expressionism, etc., and that give the visitor a complete sight of the different plastic arts from the XX Century.
Masters as meaningful as Piet Mondrian, Paul Klee, Vasily Kandisky, George Braque, Paul Cezánne Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger and Joan Miró, including Contemporary artists such as Joseph Beuys, Andy Warthol or Jackson Pollock. It contains fantastic Surrealist works from the Peggy Guggemheim Collection of Venice of artists as important as Salvador DalÃ, Max Ernst, René Magritte or Yves Tanguy, and representatives of the Dadaism such as Duchamp, Man Ray and Kurt Schwitters.
Finally, the Basque and Spanish Contemporary art are also represented in the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, with a selection of works of our best artists: Txomin Badiola, Miquel Barceló, Cristina Iglesias, Javier Pérez or Susana Solano.
As a whole, these works provide a wide vision of the current trends of our art. Eduardo Chillida, Yves Klein, Willem de Kooning, Kiefer Anselm, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Clyfford Still, Antoni TÃ pies and Andy Warhol, among others.
Moreover, some of the rooms of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao are dedicated to works that have been specifically created for this museum. It includes works of the most famous artists from the last four decades of this century.
