It was built in 1892, on the ruins of the former Convent of San Agustín. Inside, we can see the marvellous ornamental collection of lamps, pictures, windows, furniture, sculptures and busts that represent distinguished people from Bilbao social life, and the capital crowned by a clock.
The Salón Árabe (Arabic Hall) should be highlighted, a place of unusual beauty in which the most relevant public events take place. It was designed by José Soler, who decorated it using marbles, woods and ivories imitations.
