It is considered to be a jewel of Catalonian Gothic civil architecture that joins different styles as a result of different redesigns that this monument has suffered. It was built over the ruins of an old Roman port.
The building is organised around a central courtyard, with Romanesque arches.
In this courtyard we can find Gothic elements, such as Gothic windows from the XIV Century. In the ground floor, it is surrounded by rooms that keep their medieval structure.
It is the head office of the Historical Archive of the city. In 1784, the courtyard was completed and Josep Mas built the façade of the Plaza Nova, with wooden platforms. The building was finished in 1928 with the construction of the façade of the Plaza Garriga I Bachs.
You can only visit the courtyard. Monday to Friday: From 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
