This promenade borders the beach of La Concha and beautiful peculiar buildings surround it along more than five kilometres. This beach constitutes the semicircle that forms the bay between the mountains Iguelgo and Urgull. In the centre of the bay is situated the Santa Clara Island, a kind of natural breakwater that protects the beach and the port from bad weather. The area where is situated the promenade is a pedestrian precinct, with benches that invite us to rest and enjoy the beautiful sights to the Cantabrian Sea.
It has a peculiar white banister, by Mariano Arrieta, that covers the whole promenade. From there, you can see the Parque Alderdi, the Plaza de Cervantes, the Hotel de Londres e Inglaterra, the Pico del Loro, etc. Due to its elegance and majesty, it is one of the symbols of the city. The queen MarÃa Cristina chose this place as her place for resting.
