This cathedral was built on the ruins of the former mosque of Aljama. A spacious marble staircase gives access to the great portico.
Its façade is in Renaissance style and is divided into two floors. In the lower one there are three arches and inside of them, doors are divided by marble columns. Over the doors there are medallions. The side doors represent the Patron Saints of Málaga, San Ciriaco and Santa Paula, whereas the central one represents a Bible scene.
The only finished tower, from the two towers that were planned in the primitive project, is more than 92 meters height and in its bell tower there more than fifteen bells, The South tower was not finished because the money was used for helping America, that is why it is known as “La Manquita”. Inside, it is in Baroque style.
The Basilica is rectangular and is composed by three naves, being the central one wider than the side ones, but all of them have the same height. The set of chairs of the choir was carried out by Pedro de Mena and is a real masterpiece.
We should highlight the elegant architecture of its choir, by the famous Alonso Cano. In the altarpiece of Nuestra Señora de los Reyes, we can see the image of the Virgin that the Catholic Kings carried when they conquered the town.
We should add a board by Luis de Morales (Divino Morales), a sculpture of the Virgen de los Dolores by Pedro de Mena and other pieces by Andrea del Sarto, Van Dyck, as well as some paintings of Fernando Niño de Guevara.

The Centre Pompidou Malaga is part of the National Centre for Art and Culture George Pompidou (Paris). It was inaugurated on 28th March 2015.
It is located in the “El Cubo” building, designed by the Urban Planning Department of Malaga, through architects Juan Antonio Marín and Javier Pérez de la Fuente. This building has two floors covering 6,300 square metres. Its upper floor is completely open-plan, crowned by a large skylight in the form of a steel and glass cube.
It is the second external branch of the original centre in Paris and the first outside France. It was established in Malaga through an agreement signed in 2013, for five renewable years.
It permanently exhibits around seventy works from the Parisian headquarters’ collection, one of the most important in Contemporary Art. This permanent exhibition offers a journey through the plastic arts of the 20th and 21st centuries. Works by great names of the Historical Avant-Garde, such as Picasso, Giacometti, Magritte, Francis Bacon, Brancusi, Frida Kahlo, De Chirico, Kandinsky, Chagall, among others, are on display. There are also one or two temporary exhibitions annually.
Additionally, the experience at the Centre Pompidou Malaga is lived through multidisciplinary programs of dance, performance, film, and word. To achieve this, it benefits from mediation devices, especially for young audiences. Therefore, this building is an installation where workshops, educational and outreach activities can also be enjoyed. It thus constitutes a platform for exchange between current creation and society.

The Gibralfaro Castle takes its name from the hill where it is situated, a location where there was a lighthouse used that dated back to Phoenician times. The fortress began to be built over Roman ruins in the time of Abderramán III. In fact, it was the Nasrid king Yusuf I who undertook a process of reform and reconstruction in the 14th century. All this with the aim of controlling the coast and preventing Christian incursions into a territory increasingly pressured by the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon. The fortress was besieged by the Catholic Monarchs during the summer of 1487, and Ferdinand the Catholic resided there temporarily after the victory.
For a long time, it was considered the most impregnable fortress on the peninsula. Comprising two lines of walls and eight towers, its initial intention was also to protect the Alcazaba, with which it is connected. From its keep, you can see the whole of Málaga and even the Rif mountain range in Africa.
Today it is one of the most visited monuments in the province, and in its parade ground, various activities such as concerts, rock and jazz cycles or theatrical performances are often held.

The Roman Theatre of Málaga is located in the historic centre of the city, at the foot of the Alcazaba. It was discovered in 1951, when a series of gardening works were being carried out in the area. What was initially thought to be remains of the wall turned out to be the theatre, which extended beneath the House of Culture. This building was demolished in the 1990s in order to enhance the theatre complex and construct an interpretation centre for it.
The remains that have been recovered to date show us a medium-sized Imperial-era theatre. Mainly preserved are parts of the cavea or seating, the orchestra (the area preceding the stage where the chorus and authorities were positioned) and the scaena (where performances took place).
It is a mixed construction making use of part of the hillside on which it is located to support the seating. It follows the classical model proposed by Vitruvius and achieved perfect sound and acoustics.
In addition to damage suffered during its excavation last century, many parts of the site are deteriorated due to part of its stone being used by the Arabs for the construction of the Alcazaba.
