This building was assigned to house the merchants businesses, avoiding in this way that their businesses were carried out next to the Seo Cathedral and other churches of the town, as traditionally.
This place offers a mixture between the Gothic and the Plateresque style. It is a rectangular building, with three naves of same height divided by ringed Ionic columns. The façade is Renaissance. Inside it keeps Gothic elements.
We should highlight the hall of columns, with oggive vaults derived from the markets of the Eastern provinces of Spain and designed by Gil de Morlanes. It has a frieze with Gothic inscriptions. It is covered by star- shape rib vaults.
The four facades have openings of different height as well as doors, windows and an upper gallery. The roof is decorated with very typical golden rose windows.
Nowadays it is used as exhibitions room of the city council.
It is opened to public during the exhibitions, from Tuesday to Saturday: From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Sundays and Public Holidays: From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The monument is closed: Mondays, 1 January and 25 December.
