This museum is located in two historic buildings that are joined: the Casa de los Caballos and the Casa de las Veletas.
Which occupies the site where the former Arab Alcazar was built, from which the cistern has survived and is one of the best conserved in the Iberian Peninsula. It has a beautiful square courtyard.
The museum houses five archaeology rooms that drive us to the Palaeolithic, the Copper Age, the Bronze Age, the Pre-Roman culture and the Roman one, without forgetting the ethnography section. It includes pieces of sculpture, painting, engravings and religious gold work.
In the XVIII, the house was reformed by Don Jorge de Cáceres y Quiñones, and the gargoyles date from this time as well as the enamelled ceramics and the big coats of arms of the main façade.
