Trotz die Kirche aus den ersten Jahrhunderten der Romanik stammt, wurde sie im 13. Jahrhundert erweitert und drei Jahrhunderte später zur Kathedrale geweiht.
Es handelt sich um eine sehr alte Kirche, wie es das breite und mindere gotische Schiff und seine Kreuzgewölbe und Nebenschiffe beweist. 1741 wurde die Kirche trotzdem mit Churriguera-Verzierung renoviert.
