Benalmádena is one of the main tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol. Within its municipal boundaries, there are three areas: Benalmádena Pueblo, with white houses and narrow streets; Arroyo de la Miel, which is the residential area; and Benalmádena Costa.
A small sample of the excellent coast of Benalmádena includes beaches like La Viborilla or Santa Ana, the most famous ones. However, although the main attraction of Benalmádena is its calm blue waters perfect for sports like snorkelling or diving, in this Malaga municipality we can discover other interesting places.
The Colomares Castle was built by a wealthy doctor to honour Christopher Columbus and the discovery of America. Next to this unique castle is the Mariposario, where you can observe numerous beautiful insects. On the other hand, the largest Buddhist temple in Europe is located in Benalmádena and is known as the Enlightenment Stupa.
The Felipe Orlando Pre-Columbian Art Museum in Benalmádena houses an important pre-Columbian and archaeological collection. Furthermore, one can observe there remains of Benalroma, one of the Roman archaeological sites of Benalmádena.
The Benalmádena Cable Car covers much of the town and the Sierra de Mijas. From it, you can enjoy beautiful views and even see Africa if the day is clear.
Benalmádena also offers various leisure possibilities. There you can visit different aquariums and dolphinariums like Selwo Marina or Sea Life; and Puerto Marina is a perfect place to have a coffee, go shopping, dine or enjoy the nightlife.
