Ochagavía is a small village in the Pyrenees of Navarre. It is located in the Salazar valley, next to the Irati forest, which is covered with vibrant reds and ochres when autumn arrives.
The charm of this village is founded on its important historical past and the care its inhabitants have taken with every corner of the locality: its streets, its typical stone houses with gabled roofs, the emblazoned houses and its medieval palaces.
Among the civil monuments that stand out in Ochagavía is the Crucero, located at the village entrance and built in the 16th century; and the bridge over the Anduña river. The course of this river, as it runs through the village, creates a beautiful image of the small Navarrese locality.
The Church of San Juan Evangelista is a large temple that was rebuilt in the 16th century. Meanwhile, the Chapel of Our Lady of the Virgin of the Snows, in the heart of the Irati forest; and the Chapel of Our Lady of Muskilda, in Romanesque style, are two small churches that also form part of the beautiful artistic heritage of Ochagavía.
