Guijuelo

Guijuelo is one of the prominent names in acorn-fed Iberian ham in Spain. It is the capital of the region that shares its name and of the sub-region of Salvatierra, southwest of  Salamanca. Its municipal area comprises the villages of Cabezuela, Campillo, Palacios, and Guijuelo.

Its meat products are highly prestigious and are the driving force of the local economy. In Guijuelo, hams and sausages are exceptionally cured thanks to the area's cold and dry climate. Among the numerous companies dedicated to Iberian meat, there are internationally recognised brands such as "Víctor Gómez". The Workshop and Tasting of Acorn-fed Iberian Products in Guijuelo in the former family winery Alma de Ibérico (dating back to 1903) is an unmissable experience. The Guijuelo Cured Meat Industry Museum is also worth a visit.

The municipality also features monuments and places of interest to discover, such as the pointed apse belonging to a 15th-century church (known as El Torreón), the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Plaza Mayor, or the Bullring; as well as other spots like its parks and gardens.
