The Castle of Tiedra is the flagship monument of the namesake town in Valladolid, belonging to the Montes Torozos region.
It is a medieval defensive construction, the elements that have been preserved to this day include a keep and a crenellated wall around it. It has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest since 1949.
It was owned by different reigns and medieval lordships, from the time of Sancho II of Castile, until it belonged to the Dukes of Osuna in the 19th century.
In 2005, the Tiedra Town Council acquired ownership of the property and undertook its restoration over several years, due to its alarming state of ruin. Thanks to this, since 2013 its exterior and interior can be visited.
Today, we can visit a museum inside the keep with objects and informative panels about the castles of Valladolid and neighbouring Castilian provinces.
From its rooftop, spectacular views can be enjoyed of the village, its landscape, as well as the lavender fields and the Montes Torozos.
