The Iberian oppidum of Puente Tablas is located 7 km from Jaén city. It is a fortified settlement dating back to the 8th century BC and represents one of the most representative visitable spaces of Iberian culture.
In Puente Tablas, you can clearly see how the Iberians of the Upper Guadalquivir lived. Its fortified enclosure of over 300 metres stands out, as well as the dwellings, the remains of what appears to be a sanctuary and the so-called Puerta del Sol. Moreover, its interpretation centre is truly modern and stands out for being a very up-to-date space oriented towards a quality visit.
The site is part of the itinerary of the project Journey to the Time of the Iberians, which aims to highlight the remains of Iberian culture in the province of Jaén. The connection between Puente Tablas and the Iberian Museum is clear, and both visits complement each other.
