Gastronomic routes to enjoy in Andalusia

The perfect plan to enjoy Andalusia is to experience it with all five senses. The best way to do this is with a trip that includes gastronomic tourism. Here we propose several interesting plans.

Almería

A city in Andalusia that was recognised as the gastronomic capital of Spain in 2019 is Almería. This was thanks to its varied and Mediterranean cuisine. We recommend trying it out with this gastronomic route through the city centre, with a local guide, where you will taste the most authentic and high-quality tapas.

If you prefer a trip through rural and inland Almería, you have a Gastronomic Experience in Serón. The cured meats of this town are well-known, as is its cheese, awarded as the best in the world. In this experience, you can choose to visit a cheesemaker and ham factory, or to have a meal with local products in the Sierra de los Filabres.

Seeking oleotourism in the province of Almería, you might come across the Almazara Castillo de Tabernas. Its olive trees are located next to the Tabernas Desert Natural Park, the only one in Europe. In this visit to the oil mill, you will see the entire production process, participate in an oil tasting, and if you wish, take a bottle home with you.

Cádiz

Jerez is one of the quintessential wine capitals in Spain. There are also places to pair these wines with tapas, combining Andalusian cuisine with innovation. In this route through Jerez de la Frontera, you will have the opportunity to savour them.

If you're interested in the wine from this city, you also have your perfect plan. A guided visit to a traditional Jerez winery is located right in the centre. You will learn about its production with a guide from the winery itself and taste two varieties of fine wine produced there.

Granada

Granada is also famous for its tapas culture, where a generous portion is offered with each drink. Depending on the establishment, this may be chosen or not. But in this private tour, a local guide will lead you to discover the best ones, from the Historic Centre to the Albayzín.

Jaén

If we talk about Jaén, we talk about its greatest treasure, Extra Virgin Olive Oil. To appreciate it up close, we propose several plans, some of which even combine the historical heritage of the monumental cities of Úbeda and Baeza with oleotourism.

But good wines are also produced in the province of Jaén, such as those from the Bodega Marcelino Serrano in Alcalá la Real. In this experience, if you travel to this “Frontier Land” crowned by its majestic Fortress of La Mota, you will have a complete programme: guided visit to the vineyards, an introductory wine tasting course with three home-produced wines and a sampling of several local appetisers. This tasting also includes Extra Virgin Olive Oil with artisan bread.

Málaga

A fun and different plan is to take a Eco-Gastronomic Tour in the Montes de Málaga Natural Park. This is an electric car route through this park driven by yourself following the guide, where you will end up having lunch with a typical menu from a Málaga inn.

Seville

In the Andalusian capital, you also have the opportunity to taste good wines with Denomination of Origin. Alongside an expert, you will taste in this Andalusian wine tasting up to four different varieties, both from the region and local.

A neighbourhood in Seville where the tapas are unique is Triana. The typical bars on Calle Betis or Calle la Alfarería are famous. Discover them with an expert in Sevillian gastronomy on this tapas tour in Triana. Or, if you prefer, take a Tapas Walking Tour from the centre.

Olive oil is also present in this province. To discover it, we propose a visit to a traditional oil mill from the capital that includes a guide, round-trip transport, entries, and oil tasting with an appetiser.
